Notice] Dear Parents

JK and SK classes: 10:00am – 10:30am April 18th

Grade 1/2 classes: 10:40am – 11:10am April 18th

Grade 3/4 classes: 11:20am – 11:50am April 18th

Grade 5-8 classes: 10:00am – 10:30am April 18th

Dear parents,

While we are all struggling during these unexpected and difficult times, there is also something positive to take away from the unprecedented situation brought by COVID-19. South Korea’s prompt and thorough response to the COVID-19 pandemic has been highly commended worldwide. I believe that this is not only a great source of pride for all of us, who share in that same legacy of hard work and dedication to our community but also that their example may inspire our growing children as much as it safeguards their future.

In order to do our part in responsibly supporting our children’s education, the Ottawa Korean Community School will begin online classes this Saturday, on April 18th. To this end, all of our teachers are working hard to make this possible. Of course, due to the suddenness of the pandemic and the limited timeframe that we have for preparing a new learning platform, there will inevitably be some errors and issues as we develop this new system. I, therefore, ask parents for both their understanding and their advice—your feedback will be especially important as we work through and adapt to these new circumstances. I am grateful for your continued cooperation and generous support and am confident that we can work through these changes together.

Starting this Saturday, different grade levels will have their online classes scheduled at different times. We have decided on this new staggered schedule out of consideration for families who would need to accommodate online class time for more than one child and whose children are in different grades/classes. The schedule for the range of grades is as follows:

JK and SK classes: 10:00am – 10:30am April 18th

Grade 1/2 classes: 10:40am – 11:10am April 18th

Grade 3/4 classes: 11:20am – 11:50am April 18th

Grade 5-8 classes: 10:00am – 10:30am April 18th

Homeroom teachers will be sending out more details shortly on how to access the online classes. If parents would reply to those emails, confirming that they have received the information, we would appreciate it very much. Parents may also direct further questions to homeroom teachers via email, as well.

I am confident that we will continue to overcome these difficult times, and I look forward to seeing the many healthy and bright faces of our children in school again.
