학부모님들께,

많은 학부모님들의 관심과 성원으로 2020/21 학기의 개학이 순조롭게 진행이 되었습니다. 많은 학생들의 등록으로 이번 학기에는 총 14개의 학급이 편성되어, 유치부부터 고학년까지 각각 초급, 중급, 고급의 3개의 레벨로 반 편성을 할 수 있게 되었습니다.

“일생을 살아가면서 가장 필요한 모든 것은 유치원에서 다 배웠다”라고 누군가 이야기 했습니다. 우리가 살아가는데 기본적으로 가장 중요한 것이 어린 시절에 형성된다는 것을 강조하는 이야기라고 생각합니다. 어린이들의 초등학년 시절은 한번 지나면 다시 오지 않을, 짧지만 무엇보다 귀중한 시간입니다. 이 시간을 무심히 보내지 않고 그들의 삶의 기초를 든든하게 쌓을 수 있도록 좋은 가르침을 받는것은 그들의 기본적인 권리이며, 이를 가능토록 최상의 조건을 마련해 주는 것은 어른들의 중요한 의무라고 생각합니다.

뿌리가 튼튼한 나무는 어떤 바람도 견디어내며 잘 자라서 싱싱한 열매를 맺게 됩니다. 우리의 어린이들은 한국에 연결된 뿌리를 가지고 있습니다. 한글학교는 우리 어린이들의 뿌리에 좋은 양분을 가득 주어, 그들이 자라면서 한국의 뿌리를 자랑스럽게 생각하며 한국인의 뿌듯한 자긍심을 가지고 이 사회를 이끌어 나갈 훌륭한 지도자가 되게 하기 위하여 모든 노력을 아끼지 않고 있습니다.

이를 위하여 카나다 정부뿐 아니라 한국 정부 또한 귀중한 국민들의 세금을 할애해 가면서 한글학교를 적극 지원해 주고 있습니다. 특히 오타와 한글학교에는 재능과 열정이 넘치는 선생님들께서 사명감을 가지고 열심히 연구하고 많은 시간을 아끼지 않고 수업 준비를 하면서 어린이들을 지도하고 계십니다. 이러한 좋은 환경 속에서 배우고 있는 오타와 한글학교 어린이들은 커다란 축복을 누리고 있는 것이라고 생각합니다.

현재의 Covid19 상황으로 학교의 안전이 더욱 확고해질 때까지 온라인 수업은 계속될 예정입니다. 참고로 새 학생들의 등록은 학기 중에도 온라인으로 항상 받고 있음을 알려드립니다.

다시 한번 학부모님들의 관심과 협조에 진심으로 감사드립니다.

Dear Parents,

With the help and support of all teachers and parents, our first week of the 2020/21 semester went smoothly. This semester we are accommodating 14 classes in total, with students organized into one of three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

I have heard someone make this comment about their early education: “I learned everything I needed most in my life during kindergarten.” To me, this remark emphasizes the impact that those early, formative years of schooling can have on our children. The elementary school years seem to go by so fast, and yet they are some of the most valuable educational experiences of all. It is our children’s right to receive the best education that we can offer, and it is our duty as adults to safeguard these learning conditions.

A tree with strong roots withstands any wind, grows well, and may flower and bear fruit. Our children also have roots—cultural roots to their Korean heritage. The Ottawa Korean Community School is making every effort to nourish those roots and to cultivate our students’ pride in that heritage, all in the hopes that they will blossom and become the pride of our Korean-Canadian society. Both the Canadian and Korean governments are actively supporting and funding our endeavours. Our talented and enthusiastic teachers from the Ottawa Korean Language School, especially, are devoting countless hours to preparing for their classes and to helping our students. We are grateful to be able to offer such instructors to our hardworking learners.

Online classes will continue until the current Covid19 situation has improved and until such time as we can ensure everyone’s safety. Please note that we will continue to accept all new students wishing to register for online classes at any point during the semester.

2020/2021년도 한글학교 수업 안내 / Ottawa Korean Community School classes for 2020/2021

학부모님께,

2020/2021년도 한글학교 수업은 지난 학기와 마찬가지로 계속해서 온라인으로 진행될 예정입니다.

수업은 9월 12일부터 매주 토요일 오전 9:30 – 12:00까지 진행되며, 영상 대면 수업과 과제물 지도를 병행하게 됩니다.
한글학교 수업은 학생들의 언어 수준에 최대한 맞추기 위하여 다음과 같이 3 – 4개의 레벨로 반을 나누어 수업할 예정입니다.

유치부: JK반, SK반

1/2학년: 초급반, 중급반, 고급반

3/4학년: 초급반, 중급반, 고급반

5/6학년: 초급반, 중급반

7/8학년: 초급반, 중급반

5-8학년: 기초반

This letter is to inform you that the Ottawa Korean Community School classes for 2020/2021 will continue to be held online.

Starting from September the 12th, classes will take place every Saturday 9:30-12:00 a.m. Each virtual class activity will consist of lessons and assignment instructions.
To best accommodate different language levels of the students, classes will be divided into 3-4 levels as below.

Kindergarten: JK class, SK class
Grade 1/2: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
Grade 3/4: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
Grade 5/6: Beginner, Intermediate
Grade 7/8: Beginner, Intermediate
Grades 5-8: Basic class
Grades 5-8: Advanced class

안녕하세요,

지난 27일을 마지막으로 한글학교 정규 수업이 무사히 종료되었습니다.

성공적인 온라인 수업을 위한 학부모님들의 협조에 다시 한번 감사드리며 7월 6일부터 시작될 한글학교 여름 프로그램을 위한 몇 가지 숙지 사항을 알립니다.
1. 이번 주 중에 학생들의 반 편성이 이루어지고 각반 담임 선생님으로부터 메일을 받으실 것입니다. 혹시 메일을 받지 않으셨을 때는 Junk Email을 확인하신 후 학교에 알려 주시기 바랍니다.
2. 영상 수업 중 지켜야 할 사항들:
- 온라인 수업 시간 5분 전에 접속을 하여 주시기 바랍니다.
- 학생들이 수업 중 메세지를 주고받을 때 예의 있는 단어들을 쓰도록 하며, 영상 수업 도중 카메라를 끄는 일이 없도록 주지 시켜 주시기 바랍니다 (이 사항이 지켜지지 않으면 그날의 접속은 즉시 중단될 수 있습니다).
- 어린 학년(JK – Gr3) 학생들이 수업을 할 때에는 부모님 한 분이 컴퓨터 조작을 옆에서 계속 도와주시기 바랍니다.
- 수업 중에 기기의 잡음을 피하기 위해 주위에 다른 컴퓨터, TV 등의 작동하는 전자 기기를 멀리하여 주시기 바랍니다.
- 수업 중에는 음식을 먹는 일이 없도록 살펴 주시기 바랍니다.
- 수업을 시작하면 바로 MUTE를 하여 주시고 학생이 이야기할 때만 해제하여 주시기 바랍니다.
- 부모님의 메일 주소로 Google Classroom 등을 사용하여 과제를 내주게 되는 경우, 학부모님들께서는 보내드린 링크를 반드시 열어서 학생들이 과제를 이행할 수 있도록 도와주시면 고맙겠습니다.

Summer Program Preparation & Textbook distribution

Hello all,

As of the 27th, the regular classes at Korean Community School ended in a fruitful collaboration between the teachers and parents. Thank you again for your help and support.

As you are aware, the school’s Summer Program will start from July the 6th, and we would like to share a matter of familiarity in preparation.
1. This week, students will be designated for their classes, and you should receive an e-mail from each class teacher. If you do not receive an e-mail, please check your junk e-mail folder and let the school know.
2. Things to keep in mind during video lessons:
3. Please log in 5min. before class time.
4. Make sure students use respectful words when exchanging messages in class and remind students not to turn off the camera during the video lessons (failing to do so may result in termination of the access for the day immediately).
5. When young students (JK – Gr3) are in class, one parent should be available to assist the child/ children continuously with computer operation.
6. Keep electronic devices (computers and TVs, etc.) away to avoid noise and distraction during class.
7. Please remind the student(s) not to eat during class.
8. Keep the microphone at MUTE at all times unless the student wishes to speak.
9. When an assignment is sent using the parent(s)’ google account through Google Classroom, please make sure to open it and assist your child/children so that they can fulfill the assignment.

학부모 여러분 안녕하세요.

JK부터 8학년까지 7월 6일부터 7월 31일까지 (4주간) 온라인으로 진행될 한글학교 여름 프로그램 소식을 알리고자 합니다.

지난 몇 주간 온라인으로 전환된 수업을 준비하시느라 수고하시는 교사진 여러분과 새로운 수업 환경에 잘 적응하며 따라와 준 우리 아이들, 그리고 옆에서 도와주시는 학부모님의 애정으로 한글학교 수업이 성공적으로 진행될 수 있었습니다.

이번 여름, 아이들이 한글과 한국 문화를 계속해서 배워갈 수 있도록 프로그램이 진행될 예정이니 한글학교와 뜻깊은 4주를 보내실 수 있으면 하는 바람입니다.

Information on Ottawa Korean Community School Summer Program 2020

Dear Parents,

This is to inform you of the Korean School Summer Program, which will be held online from July 6th to July 31st (4 weeks) for the JK to 8th grade.

In the past few weeks, in spite of the new teaching/learning method we had to adapt, the classes were able to progress successfully as a result of everyones effort – the teachers who worked hard to prepare classes virtually, the children who followed instructions well, and the parents who helped us run classes smoothly.

This summer, we continue to offer programs so that our children can pursue cultural learning experience. We sincerely hope you will be able to spend another meaningful 4 weeks with the Korean Community School.

Registration is available online, and detailed information is provided on the School Boards Website https://educationpermanente.ca/international-languages/iilp-summer/).
Should you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school principal, Yong Lee, at leeyo@ecolecatholique.ca.

*We will be able to distribute textbooks to those who registered by June 20th only.

*For Ontario residents, there is no further action required once the registration form is completed online. For out-of-province residents, please follow the link provided in the confirmation e-mail, select ILP: Summer Elementary-Out of province students, and follow the instruction to complete the payment.

3기 방과후 프로그램 취소 / Phase 3 After School Program Canceled

학부모님들께,
오타와 지역 사회에 코로나 바이러스 감염이 급증하고 있는 현 상황과 관련하여, 한글학교는 3기 방과 후 수업을 진행하지 않기로 결정하였습니다.
4월 18일 한글학교 수업은 재개될 예정이지만, 도시락 프로그램 등 방과 후 모든 활동은 학기말까지 중단됩니다.

한글학교 가족 모두가 어려운 상황을 함께 극복하기를 진심으로 기원합니다.

Dear Parents,

Regarding the current situation in which corona virus infection is rapidly increasing in the Ottawa community, Korean School decided not to conduct Phase 3 After School Classes.
The regular Korean School Program is scheduled to be resumed on April 18th. However, all after school activities, such as lunchbox programs, will be suspended until the end of the Phase 3.
We sincerely wish all of the Korean school families to overcome this difficult time together.
