    2021년 여름캠프에 많은 관심을 보여주시고 자녀들을 등록하여 주신 학부모 여러분께 감사를 드립니다.

    많은 학부모님들의 성원과 학교 관계자 여러분의 적극적인 지원에 힘입은 한글학교 선생님들은 여름캠프 준비에 모든 정성을 다하고 있습니다.
    참고로, 현재 선생님들께서는 7일간의 교사연수를 진행하며 지난 일년간의 온라인수업의 경험에서 얻은 노하우를 서로 나누며 학습개발에 만전을 다하고 있습니다.

    이번 여름캠프에서 사용될 학습재료를 담임 선생님들께서 준비하여 다음과 같이 분배해 드릴 예정입니다.

    대상: 여름캠프에 등록한 모든 학생들 (단 1/2 학년 학생들은 여름 캠프가 시작한 직후에 각반 담임선생님께서 분배할 예정)

    We appreciate all the parents who showed great interest in the 2021 Summer Camp and registered their children.
    Our teachers are doing their best to prepare for the summer camp – thanks to the support of many parents and the active support of school officials, For your information, the teachers are having a 7-day workshop for developing better online teaching methods by sharing the know-how gained from the class experiences over the past year.

    The teachers will prepare the learning materials to be used in this summer camp and distribute them as follows:

    To: All students registered in the summer camp. (materials for GRAD 1 and 2 students will be distributed by the homeroom teachers immediately after the summer camp starts)

    7월 5일부터 7월 30일까지(4주간) 진행될 한글학교 여름프로그램 소식을 알려 드립니다.  이미 스쿨보드에서 이메일을 받으셔서 등록하고 결제하신분은 완료 되신겁니다.  

    아이들이 한글과 한국문화를 계속해서 배워 알찬 4주를 보내실 수 있으면 하는 바람입니다.

    Dear Parents,

    The 2021 Korean community school classes will continue online just like last semester. Here is the news about the summer program of Korean community School, which will run from July 5th to July 30th (4 weeks).  

    Those who have already received the email from the school board and have registered and paid for it are complete.

    We hope the children can continue to learn languages and Korean culture and spend a fruitful four weeks.

    벌써 가을입니다.
    단란한 추석 보내셨나요?

    오늘은 학부모님들께 조그만 도움을 요청드리려고 글을 올립니다.



    오타와 한글학교는 올해 4월부터 모든 수업을 온라인으로 전환하여 한국 문화와 언어 교육에 꾸준히 힘써왔습니다.

    온라인 수업으로 전환하면서 지출이 줄어든 부분이 있는 반면, 많은 투자가 필요한 부분도 있습니다. 올해 이사회에서는, 새로 오픈한 학교 웹사이트와 온라인 수업 지원에 중점을 두고 예산 집행을 해 왔습니다. 특히 온라인 수업에 절대적으로 필요한 컴퓨터와 기자재 구매에 많은 예산을 투자했습니다만, 학급 수가 늘어나서 추가적인 지출이 필요한 상태입니다. 언제 팬데믹이 끝나고 다시 대면 수업으로 돌아갈 수 있을지 장담할 수 없는 상황에서, 온라인 수업에 지속적인 지원과 투자가 필요하다고 생각합니다.

    많은 것이 불확실한 팬데믹의 시기입니다.
    학교의 재정을 건강하게 유지하려는 노력에 여러분이 “함께” 조그만 힘을 실어주시면 참 감사하겠습니다.

    To the parents of the Ottawa Korean Community School and the supporters,
    We’re writing this e-mail to ask for your support on the fundraising campaign for 2020/2021 school year.
    The Ottawa Korean Community School has been offering quality online education on Korean culture and language since April this year. While there are areas where spending has decreased as everything switched to online, some areas still require quite a lot of investment. OKCS’s board has been executing this year’s budget with a focus on support for the online classes and on the newly launched school website. In particular, we had a significant investment in laptop computers and other equipment that are essential for online classes. Through continuous support and investment is required as the number of classes has increased.
    Going through this unprecedented time together, we ask for your participation and support to keep the school’s finances healthy.

  • 학교장이 올리는 편지 / Letter from the Principal

    학부모님들께,

    많은 학부모님들의 관심과 성원으로 2020/21 학기의 개학이 순조롭게 진행이 되었습니다. 많은 학생들의 등록으로 이번 학기에는 총 14개의 학급이 편성되어, 유치부부터 고학년까지 각각 초급, 중급, 고급의 3개의 레벨로 반 편성을 할 수 있게 되었습니다.

    “일생을 살아가면서 가장 필요한 모든 것은 유치원에서 다 배웠다”라고 누군가 이야기 했습니다. 우리가 살아가는데 기본적으로 가장 중요한 것이 어린 시절에 형성된다는 것을 강조하는 이야기라고 생각합니다. 어린이들의 초등학년 시절은 한번 지나면 다시 오지 않을, 짧지만 무엇보다 귀중한 시간입니다. 이 시간을 무심히 보내지 않고 그들의 삶의 기초를 든든하게 쌓을 수 있도록 좋은 가르침을 받는것은 그들의 기본적인 권리이며, 이를 가능토록 최상의 조건을 마련해 주는 것은 어른들의 중요한 의무라고 생각합니다.

    뿌리가 튼튼한 나무는 어떤 바람도 견디어내며 잘 자라서 싱싱한 열매를 맺게 됩니다. 우리의 어린이들은 한국에 연결된 뿌리를 가지고 있습니다. 한글학교는 우리 어린이들의 뿌리에 좋은 양분을 가득 주어, 그들이 자라면서 한국의 뿌리를 자랑스럽게 생각하며 한국인의 뿌듯한 자긍심을 가지고 이 사회를 이끌어 나갈 훌륭한 지도자가 되게 하기 위하여 모든 노력을 아끼지 않고 있습니다.

    이를 위하여 카나다 정부뿐 아니라 한국 정부 또한 귀중한 국민들의 세금을 할애해 가면서 한글학교를 적극 지원해 주고 있습니다. 특히 오타와 한글학교에는 재능과 열정이 넘치는 선생님들께서 사명감을 가지고 열심히 연구하고 많은 시간을 아끼지 않고 수업 준비를 하면서 어린이들을 지도하고 계십니다. 이러한 좋은 환경 속에서 배우고 있는 오타와 한글학교 어린이들은 커다란 축복을 누리고 있는 것이라고 생각합니다.

    현재의 Covid19 상황으로 학교의 안전이 더욱 확고해질 때까지 온라인 수업은 계속될 예정입니다. 참고로 새 학생들의 등록은 학기 중에도 온라인으로 항상 받고 있음을 알려드립니다.

    다시 한번 학부모님들의 관심과 협조에 진심으로 감사드립니다.

    Dear Parents,

    With the help and support of all teachers and parents, our first week of the 2020/21 semester went smoothly. This semester we are accommodating 14 classes in total, with students organized into one of three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

    I have heard someone make this comment about their early education: “I learned everything I needed most in my life during kindergarten.” To me, this remark emphasizes the impact that those early, formative years of schooling can have on our children. The elementary school years seem to go by so fast, and yet they are some of the most valuable educational experiences of all. It is our children’s right to receive the best education that we can offer, and it is our duty as adults to safeguard these learning conditions.

    A tree with strong roots withstands any wind, grows well, and may flower and bear fruit. Our children also have roots—cultural roots to their Korean heritage. The Ottawa Korean Community School is making every effort to nourish those roots and to cultivate our students’ pride in that heritage, all in the hopes that they will blossom and become the pride of our Korean-Canadian society. Both the Canadian and Korean governments are actively supporting and funding our endeavours. Our talented and enthusiastic teachers from the Ottawa Korean Language School, especially, are devoting countless hours to preparing for their classes and to helping our students. We are grateful to be able to offer such instructors to our hardworking learners.

    Online classes will continue until the current Covid19 situation has improved and until such time as we can ensure everyone’s safety. Please note that we will continue to accept all new students wishing to register for online classes at any point during the semester.
