학부모님들께,
많은 학부모님들의 관심과 성원으로 2020/21 학기의 개학이 순조롭게 진행이 되었습니다. 많은 학생들의 등록으로 이번 학기에는 총 14개의 학급이 편성되어, 유치부부터 고학년까지 각각 초급, 중급, 고급의 3개의 레벨로 반 편성을 할 수 있게 되었습니다.
“일생을 살아가면서 가장 필요한 모든 것은 유치원에서 다 배웠다”라고 누군가 이야기 했습니다. 우리가 살아가는데 기본적으로 가장 중요한 것이 어린 시절에 형성된다는 것을 강조하는 이야기라고 생각합니다. 어린이들의 초등학년 시절은 한번 지나면 다시 오지 않을, 짧지만 무엇보다 귀중한 시간입니다. 이 시간을 무심히 보내지 않고 그들의 삶의 기초를 든든하게 쌓을 수 있도록 좋은 가르침을 받는것은 그들의 기본적인 권리이며, 이를 가능토록 최상의 조건을 마련해 주는 것은 어른들의 중요한 의무라고 생각합니다.
뿌리가 튼튼한 나무는 어떤 바람도 견디어내며 잘 자라서 싱싱한 열매를 맺게 됩니다. 우리의 어린이들은 한국에 연결된 뿌리를 가지고 있습니다. 한글학교는 우리 어린이들의 뿌리에 좋은 양분을 가득 주어, 그들이 자라면서 한국의 뿌리를 자랑스럽게 생각하며 한국인의 뿌듯한 자긍심을 가지고 이 사회를 이끌어 나갈 훌륭한 지도자가 되게 하기 위하여 모든 노력을 아끼지 않고 있습니다.
이를 위하여 카나다 정부뿐 아니라 한국 정부 또한 귀중한 국민들의 세금을 할애해 가면서 한글학교를 적극 지원해 주고 있습니다. 특히 오타와 한글학교에는 재능과 열정이 넘치는 선생님들께서 사명감을 가지고 열심히 연구하고 많은 시간을 아끼지 않고 수업 준비를 하면서 어린이들을 지도하고 계십니다. 이러한 좋은 환경 속에서 배우고 있는 오타와 한글학교 어린이들은 커다란 축복을 누리고 있는 것이라고 생각합니다.
현재의 Covid19 상황으로 학교의 안전이 더욱 확고해질 때까지 온라인 수업은 계속될 예정입니다. 참고로 새 학생들의 등록은 학기 중에도 온라인으로 항상 받고 있음을 알려드립니다.
다시 한번 학부모님들의 관심과 협조에 진심으로 감사드립니다.

Dear Parents,
With the help and support of all teachers and parents, our first week of the 2020/21 semester went smoothly. This semester we are accommodating 14 classes in total, with students organized into one of three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
I have heard someone make this comment about their early education: “I learned everything I needed most in my life during kindergarten.” To me, this remark emphasizes the impact that those early, formative years of schooling can have on our children. The elementary school years seem to go by so fast, and yet they are some of the most valuable educational experiences of all. It is our children’s right to receive the best education that we can offer, and it is our duty as adults to safeguard these learning conditions.
A tree with strong roots withstands any wind, grows well, and may flower and bear fruit. Our children also have roots—cultural roots to their Korean heritage. The Ottawa Korean Community School is making every effort to nourish those roots and to cultivate our students’ pride in that heritage, all in the hopes that they will blossom and become the pride of our Korean-Canadian society. Both the Canadian and Korean governments are actively supporting and funding our endeavours. Our talented and enthusiastic teachers from the Ottawa Korean Language School, especially, are devoting countless hours to preparing for their classes and to helping our students. We are grateful to be able to offer such instructors to our hardworking learners.
Online classes will continue until the current Covid19 situation has improved and until such time as we can ensure everyone’s safety. Please note that we will continue to accept all new students wishing to register for online classes at any point during the semester.
